About Mc Diamond

Most of what turns up under beautiful needs work before it is usable. Mc Diamond is the version that does not. Unreviewed so far — read that as untested rather than as a verdict. It comes from vintype. Only 2 people have saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's.

Put it to work on catchy first. If it survives that, it will survive whatever you had in mind next. Type your own words in the preview box before you decide: script fonts look beautiful in the designer's sample and fall apart in all caps or with a double letter. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether beautiful is really what you are getting.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.

Fancy cursive with long entry strokes. No reviews yet. Decorative enough to be the only font on a card, which is how most people will use…
