About Katika

Katika earned its place here for one reason: it is a straight answer to branding, and straight answers are rarer in this font catalogue than you would think. The save count is still small at 23, so read this as our opinion and not a consensus. It comes from DYSA Studio. There are no reviews on it yet, so judge it by the preview and not by a score that does not exist.

We keep it filed mentally under design, which is the use that needs the least adjusting afterwards. Type your own words into the preview, not the designer's. Scripts are built around a sample phrase, and a double letter or an all-caps word is where they come apart. Open it big before you commit. At thumbnail size every font on this shelf looks equally good, which is the problem with thumbnails.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
