About Whimsical Retro
What we like about Whimsical Retro is how little it tries to be everything — it does 70s inspired font, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Display and Poster Fonts shelf. 99 saves mean nobody has tested it for you. We still think it holds up. It is TINY GRAPHIX's work. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence.
A display face has one job: be read big. We judge it at poster size and ignore how it behaves in a paragraph, because it will never be in one. We would use it the way the listing hints — aesthetic font — and that is also where we would start if you are trying it for the first time. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether 70s inspired font is really what you are getting.
Filed as branding font, bubbly font, cartoon font and colorful font. Tags are a rough instrument, but a consistent set like that usually means the file is what it claims. What this shelf gets asked for is vintage fonts commercial license, display fonts, vintage fonts canva, number fonts vintage and retro canva fonts. That list is why these files are here and not some prettier ones. The neighbouring searches are display, poster, headline, vintage and slab — worth a look if this particular font is close but not quite it. We keep it under Display and Poster Fonts, which is where to look if you want the rest of the display and poster fonts we have gone through.

How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
