About Vintage Designer

This is the one we reach for when the request is 7ntypes. Vintage Designer keeps it simple, which is why it sits here rather than in the reserve pile. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence. The save count is still small at 14, so read this as our opinion and not a consensus. It comes from Putra (7NTypes).

Put it to work on baseball font first. If it survives that, it will survive whatever you had in mind next. A display face has one job: be read big. We judge it at poster size and ignore how it behaves in a paragraph, because it will never be in one. The licence tab and the full-size preview are the whole of our due diligence here, and they take about a minute between them.

Type basketball font, block font, bold font and branding font into the search above and this one comes back — the same font under four different habits of phrasing. Nearby you will see display, poster, headline, retro and slab, which is where to go if this one is nearly right but not quite. We keep it under Display and Poster Fonts, which is where to look if you want the rest of the display and poster fonts we have gone through. Judged against the requests we see — vintage fonts commercial license, display fonts, vintage fonts canva, number fonts vintage and retro canva fonts — this is a middle-of-the-road answer, and middle of the road is usually what the job needs.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
