About Retro Game

Retro Game is our alphabet fonts pick, and it is a pick rather than a default — we looked at the shelf twice before leaving it on. 198 saves is a quiet kind of recommendation, and it is the only one we can read off the listing. The listing shows 5.0 out of 5 on 1 review, which is better evidence than the thumbnail. Credit goes to OWPictures.

Our own plan for it is alphabetical, because that is where this kind of font does the least arguing with you. A display face has one job: be read big. We judge it at poster size and ignore how it behaves in a paragraph, because it will never be in one. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether alphabet fonts is really what you are getting.

Search for arcade classic font, arcade font, arcade fonts and cartoon font and this is the file those words land on; they are all the same font, filed under whichever phrase you happened to type. We keep it under Display and Poster Fonts, which is where to look if you want the rest of the display and poster fonts we have gone through. The wording people arrive with is vintage fonts commercial license, display fonts, vintage fonts canva, number fonts vintage and retro canva fonts, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid. Related wording on the shelf: display, poster, headline, vintage and slab. Same shelf, different phrasing, and the sort options above work across all of it.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
