About Create Magic

This is the one we reach for when the request is 7ntypes. Create Magic keeps it simple, which is why it sits here rather than in the reserve pile. 37 saves mean nobody has tested it for you. We still think it holds up. Anto (7NTypes) made it. 5.0 out of 5 from 1 review — a small sample, but it is the sample there is.

If you want one use for it, take bold visual statements: that is the direction the designer clearly had in mind, and it is the one we would follow. A display face has one job: be read big. We judge it at poster size and ignore how it behaves in a paragraph, because it will never be in one. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether 7ntypes is really what you are getting.

It answers to branding projects, brand story, capital letters and cartoon fonts, and that spread of wording is worth noting: a file tagged this consistently usually behaves the way the preview suggests. The wording people arrive with is vintage fonts commercial license, display fonts, vintage fonts canva, number fonts vintage and retro canva fonts, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid. The same shelf also answers to display, poster, headline, vintage and retro, so widen the search there before giving up on it. We keep it under Display and Poster Fonts, which is where to look if you want the rest of the display and poster fonts we have gone through.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
