About Batavia Vintage

Ask for apparel fonts and you get a hundred near-misses; Batavia Vintage is one of the few that answers the question as asked. 137 people have saved it over there, which tells us the idea works for more than just us. It comes from Diorde Studio. The buyers who left a word rate it 5.0 out of 5 — 1 review, all of them on the listing.

Our own plan for it is autumn fonts, because that is where this kind of font does the least arguing with you. Serifs are for reading, so we look at a full sentence in the preview rather than a single word — the rhythm shows up only in a line of text. Before downloading, give the preview a full-size look and read the licence tab — two clicks, and they answer most of what the listing leaves unsaid.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
