About Witchy Sprinkle

Most of what turns up under brush font needs work before it is usable. Witchy Sprinkle is the version that does not. Only 2 people have saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's. There are no reviews on it yet, so judge it by the preview and not by a score that does not exist. The designer behind it is Creatype Designer.

The join between letters is the whole craft in a script face, so we look at a word with a repeated letter before judging anything else. If you want one use for it, take classy font: that is the direction the designer clearly had in mind, and it is the one we would follow. The licence tab and the full-size preview are the whole of our due diligence here, and they take about a minute between them.

Search for calligraphy font, cursive font, display font and edgy font and this is the file those words land on; they are all the same font, filed under whichever phrase you happened to type. Most of the traffic on this shelf comes in on script fonts, cursive numbers, fancy cursive fonts and elegant vs script font, and we picked the files on it with those requests in mind rather than by browsing prettiest-first. We filed it under Script and Calligraphy Fonts for the obvious reason, and the shelf is small enough to read end to end. The neighbouring searches are script, handwritten, hand written and signature — worth a look if this particular font is close but not quite it.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
