About Shoofly
Shoofly stayed on the shelf for the dull reason that it works. We would rather have one of these than three fonts with ideas of their own. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence. The designer behind it is Illustration Ink. It sits at 33 saves — too few to call it popular, which is exactly why it is worth a look before everyone else finds it.
The join between letters is the whole craft in a script face, so we look at a word with a repeated letter before judging anything else. It is the sort of font we keep around for the job that cannot wait for a redraw. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
