About Mary Geoise

If alternate fonts is what you came for, start here — Mary Geoise is the plainest reading of that request on the Script and Calligraphy Fonts shelf. The designer behind it is myntype. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence. 36 saves mean nobody has tested it for you. We still think it holds up.

Type your own words into the preview, not the designer's. Scripts are built around a sample phrase, and a double letter or an all-caps word is where they come apart. We keep it filed mentally under baby fonts, which is the use that needs the least adjusting afterwards. Open it big before you commit. At thumbnail size every font on this shelf looks equally good, which is the problem with thumbnails.

The listing files it under beautiful fonts, beauty fonts, branding fonts and calligraphy fonts — those are the words it gets found by, and between them they describe the file better than any category name does. People after this usually search script, handwritten, hand written, signature and cursive too, and the shelf is sorted so those all land in the same place. On this site it lives on the Script and Calligraphy Fonts shelf, so it also turns up for people browsing script and calligraphy fonts rather than searching for it by name. The wording people arrive with is script fonts, cursive numbers, fancy cursive fonts and elegant vs script font, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
