About Libertad

The reason Libertad is here is barbershop and nothing else. It does not try to cover the next three jobs along, and we would rather it did not. It comes from brightonexart. 28 saves mean nobody has tested it for you. We still think it holds up. 5.0 out of 5 from 1 review — a small sample, but it is the sample there is.

If you want one use for it, take blackletter: that is the direction the designer clearly had in mind, and it is the one we would follow. The join between letters is the whole craft in a script face, so we look at a word with a repeated letter before judging anything else. The licence tab and the full-size preview are the whole of our due diligence here, and they take about a minute between them.

The listing files it under brewery, business branding, coffee and cursive — those are the words it gets found by, and between them they describe the file better than any category name does. Judged against the requests we see — script fonts, cursive numbers, fancy cursive fonts and elegant vs script font — this is a middle-of-the-road answer, and middle of the road is usually what the job needs. The same shelf also answers to script, calligraph, handwritten, hand written and signature, so widen the search there before giving up on it. We keep it under Script and Calligraphy Fonts, which is where to look if you want the rest of the script and calligraphy fonts we have gone through.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
