About Handwriting

We put Handwriting on the Script and Calligraphy Fonts shelf because brush font is the kind of thing people come here looking for, and this one answers it without a detour. The save count is still small at 41, so read this as our opinion and not a consensus. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence. Creatype Designer made it.

The join between letters is the whole craft in a script face, so we look at a word with a repeated letter before judging anything else. If you want one use for it, take classy font: that is the direction the designer clearly had in mind, and it is the one we would follow. Before downloading, give the preview a full-size look and read the licence tab — two clicks, and they answer most of what the listing leaves unsaid.

Search for calligraphy font, cursive font, display font and edgy font and this is the file those words land on; they are all the same font, filed under whichever phrase you happened to type. The same shelf also answers to script, handwritten, hand written and signature, so widen the search there before giving up on it. You will find it among the script and calligraphy fonts, sorted next to everything that does roughly the same job. Most of the traffic on this shelf comes in on script fonts, cursive numbers, fancy cursive fonts and elegant vs script font, and we picked the files on it with those requests in mind rather than by browsing prettiest-first.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
