Gient

About Gient

We keep Gient here because it is the plain, dependable version of what this shelf is for — and the plain version is the one that gets used. The designer behind it is Freebies. Buyers put it at 5.0 out of 5 over 14 reviews; worth clicking through to see what they actually said. It has 617 saves behind it — enough that we trust the demand, not just our own taste.

We would keep it for the project where a font has to work on the first try. The join between letters is the whole craft in a script face, so we look at a word with a repeated letter before judging anything else. The score is good enough that the risk is small. We would still look at the preview full size and read the licence tab before using it for anything we sell.

We track what people actually type before they land here: script fonts, cursive numbers, fancy cursive fonts and elegant vs script font. If that is roughly what you were after, this font is in the right family. We filed it under Script and Calligraphy Fonts for the obvious reason, and the shelf is small enough to read end to end. The neighbouring searches are handwritten, hand written, signature, cursive and brush — worth a look if this particular font is close but not quite it.

How to use this font

1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
