About Gerry

Gerry is our adobe creative suite font pick, and it is a pick rather than a default — we looked at the shelf twice before leaving it on. Only 2 people have saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's. No reviews either way, so the preview is doing all the work on this one. It is Eric Kusuma's work.

Type your own words in the preview box before you decide: script fonts look beautiful in the designer's sample and fall apart in all caps or with a double letter. Our own plan for it is branding, because that is where this kind of font does the least arguing with you. The licence tab and the full-size preview are the whole of our due diligence here, and they take about a minute between them.

Filed as crossplatform compatibility, design, design programs font and design software font. Tags are a rough instrument, but a consistent set like that usually means the file is what it claims. Judged against the requests we see — script fonts, cursive numbers, fancy cursive fonts and elegant vs script font — this is a middle-of-the-road answer, and middle of the road is usually what the job needs. We keep it under Script and Calligraphy Fonts, which is where to look if you want the rest of the script and calligraphy fonts we have gone through. If none of this quite fits, the adjacent requests are script, calligraph, handwritten, hand written and signature and they stay on this page.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
