About Family
What we like about Family is how little it tries to be everything — it does 4th of july, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Script and Calligraphy Fonts shelf. There are no reviews on it yet, so judge it by the preview and not by a score that does not exist. It is william jhordy's work. Only 5 people have saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's.
Our own plan for it is background, because that is where this kind of font does the least arguing with you. Type your own words into the preview, not the designer's. Scripts are built around a sample phrase, and a double letter or an all-caps word is where they come apart. Open it big before you commit. At thumbnail size every font on this shelf looks equally good, which is the problem with thumbnails.

How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
