About Coiltper

What we like about Coiltper is how little it tries to be everything — it does aesthetic script typeface, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Script and Calligraphy Fonts shelf. It comes from RHD Creative Studio. It sits at 4 saves — too few to call it popular, which is exactly why it is worth a look before everyone else finds it. There are no reviews on it yet, so judge it by the preview and not by a score that does not exist.

We keep it filed mentally under beautifulfont, which is the use that needs the least adjusting afterwards. The join between letters is the whole craft in a script face, so we look at a word with a repeated letter before judging anything else. Before downloading, give the preview a full-size look and read the licence tab — two clicks, and they answer most of what the listing leaves unsaid.

Filed as boutique logo font, brushfont, brush font and casual display font. Tags are a rough instrument, but a consistent set like that usually means the file is what it claims. Judged against the requests we see — script fonts, cursive numbers, fancy cursive fonts and elegant vs script font — this is a middle-of-the-road answer, and middle of the road is usually what the job needs. The same shelf also answers to calligraph, handwritten, hand written, signature and cursive, so widen the search there before giving up on it. It is shelved with the rest of the script and calligraphy fonts, and that is the quickest way to see what else sits in the same register before you settle on this one.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
