About Groovy Wanderer

Most of what turns up under 1970s font needs work before it is usable. Groovy Wanderer is the version that does not. Only 1 person has saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's. It comes from Soho Studio. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence.

If you want one use for it, take aesthetic font: that is the direction the designer clearly had in mind, and it is the one we would follow. A display font only has to work big, so we judge it at poster size and ignore how it looks in a paragraph — that is not its job. Open it big before you commit. At thumbnail size every font on this shelf looks equally good, which is the problem with thumbnails.

Type 70s font, boho font, bold font and branding font into the search above and this one comes back — the same font under four different habits of phrasing. Related wording on the shelf: display, poster, headline, vintage and retro. Same shelf, different phrasing, and the sort options above work across all of it. What this shelf gets asked for is vintage fonts commercial license, display fonts, vintage fonts canva, number fonts vintage and retro canva fonts. That list is why these files are here and not some prettier ones. You will find it among the display and poster fonts, sorted next to everything that does roughly the same job.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
