About Coach Varsity
What we like about Coach Varsity is how little it tries to be everything — it does american football, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Display and Poster Fonts shelf. WNIdesign is the name on the listing. With 2 saves it has barely been seen, and that is neither a good nor a bad sign on a catalogue this size. No reviews either way, so the preview is doing all the work on this one.
A display face has one job: be read big. We judge it at poster size and ignore how it behaves in a paragraph, because it will never be in one. We would use it the way the listing hints — athletic branding — and that is also where we would start if you are trying it for the first time. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether american football is really what you are getting.
Type athletic design, athletic font, athletic lettering and block font into the search above and this one comes back — the same font under four different habits of phrasing. Most of the traffic on this shelf comes in on vintage fonts commercial license, display fonts, vintage fonts canva, number fonts vintage and retro canva fonts, and we picked the files on it with those requests in mind rather than by browsing prettiest-first. The neighbouring searches are display, poster, headline, vintage and retro — worth a look if this particular font is close but not quite it. We keep it under Display and Poster Fonts, which is where to look if you want the rest of the display and poster fonts we have gone through.

How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
