About Scholar Varsity
Scholar Varsity is our academic designs pick, and it is a pick rather than a default — we looked at the shelf twice before leaving it on. It is Sharon ( DmStudio )'s work. 5.0 out of 5 from 1 review — a small sample, but it is the sample there is. Only 28 people have saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's.
A display font only has to work big, so we judge it at poster size and ignore how it looks in a paragraph — that is not its job. Our own plan for it is academic style font, because that is where this kind of font does the least arguing with you. Open it big before you commit. At thumbnail size every font on this shelf looks equally good, which is the problem with thumbnails.
The listing files it under allcaps font, all caps varsity font, athletic block font and athletic designs — those are the words it gets found by, and between them they describe the file better than any category name does. On this site it lives on the Display and Poster Fonts shelf, so it also turns up for people browsing display and poster fonts rather than searching for it by name. Put next to the usual requests here — vintage fonts commercial license, display fonts, vintage fonts canva, number fonts vintage and retro canva fonts — this one covers the plain version of the job, which is the version people need most often. The neighbouring searches are display, poster, headline, vintage and retro — worth a look if this particular font is close but not quite it.

How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
