About Marlow House

We put Marlow House on the Serif Fonts shelf because 70s font is the kind of thing people come here looking for, and this one answers it without a detour. The save count is still small at 4, so read this as our opinion and not a consensus. It comes from Bundle. The review tab is empty. That is normal here and not a warning, but it does put the preview in charge.

Our own plan for it is advertising font, because that is where this kind of font does the least arguing with you. Serifs are for reading, so we look at a full sentence in the preview rather than a single word — the rhythm shows up only in a line of text. Open it big before you commit. At thumbnail size every font on this shelf looks equally good, which is the problem with thumbnails.

It answers to album cover font, apparel font, bold display font and bold serif, and that spread of wording is worth noting: a file tagged this consistently usually behaves the way the preview suggests. Put next to the usual requests here — serif fonts and script and serif font combinations — this one covers the plain version of the job, which is the version people need most often. On this site it lives on the Serif Fonts shelf, so it also turns up for people browsing serif fonts rather than searching for it by name.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
