About Egants
What we like about Egants is how little it tries to be everything — it does beauty branding font, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Serif Fonts shelf. It is Perfectype's work. Only 1 person has saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's. Unreviewed so far — read that as untested rather than as a verdict.
If you want one use for it, take beauty packaging font: that is the direction the designer clearly had in mind, and it is the one we would follow. Serifs are for reading, so we look at a full sentence in the preview rather than a single word — the rhythm shows up only in a line of text. Open it big before you commit. At thumbnail size every font on this shelf looks equally good, which is the problem with thumbnails.
Type bold serif font, boutique logo font, chic display typeface and clothing brand font into the search above and this one comes back — the same font under four different habits of phrasing. What this shelf gets asked for is serif fonts and script and serif font combinations. That list is why these files are here and not some prettier ones. How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
