About Burstlock
This is the one we reach for when the request is bold fantasy typography. Burstlock keeps it simple, which is why it sits here rather than in the reserve pile. Shakira Studio is the name on the listing. 9 saves mean nobody has tested it for you. We still think it holds up. There are no reviews on it yet, so judge it by the preview and not by a score that does not exist.
We would use it the way the listing hints — bold proportion font — and that is also where we would start if you are trying it for the first time. A serif is for reading, so judge it by a full sentence rather than a word — the rhythm only shows up across a line. The licence tab and the full-size preview are the whole of our due diligence here, and they take about a minute between them.
Type book cover font, brave font, burstlock font and cinematic serif typeface into the search above and this one comes back — the same font under four different habits of phrasing. The wording people arrive with is serif fonts and script and serif font combinations, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid. We keep it under Serif Fonts, which is where to look if you want the rest of the serif fonts we have gone through.

How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
