What we like about Aurevyn is how little it tries to be everything — it does beauty font, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Serif Fonts shelf. The designer behind it is Colourful. There are no reviews on it yet, so judge it by the preview and not by a score that does not exist. With 4 saves it has barely been seen, and that is neither a good nor a bad sign on a catalogue this size.
Serifs are for reading, so we look at a full sentence in the preview rather than a single word — the rhythm shows up only in a line of text. If you want one use for it, take branding font: that is the direction the designer clearly had in mind, and it is the one we would follow. The words on the listing are display serif, editorial font, elegant font and fashion font, and they are worth reading as a description rather than as tags. How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
