About Jellybean Christmas

Jellybean Christmas earned its place here for one reason: it is a straight answer to brush font, and straight answers are rarer in this font catalogue than you would think. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence. The designer behind it is Creatype Designer. The save count is still small at 1, so read this as our opinion and not a consensus.

The obvious job for it is classy font, and obvious is right here — the file was built around that and it shows. The join between letters is the whole craft in a script face, so we look at a word with a repeated letter before judging anything else. Open it big before you commit. At thumbnail size every font on this shelf looks equally good, which is the problem with thumbnails.

It answers to calligraphy font, cursive font, display font and edgy font, and that spread of wording is worth noting: a file tagged this consistently usually behaves the way the preview suggests. Related wording on the shelf: script, handwritten, hand written and signature. Same shelf, different phrasing, and the sort options above work across all of it. The wording people arrive with is script fonts, cursive numbers, fancy cursive fonts and elegant vs script font, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid. It is shelved with the rest of the script and calligraphy fonts, and that is the quickest way to see what else sits in the same register before you settle on this one.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
