About History

What we like about History is how little it tries to be everything — it does beauty fonts, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Script and Calligraphy Fonts shelf. Credit goes to salma studio. It sits at 5 saves — too few to call it popular, which is exactly why it is worth a look before everyone else finds it. The review tab is empty. That is normal here and not a warning, but it does put the preview in charge.

Type your own words into the preview, not the designer's. Scripts are built around a sample phrase, and a double letter or an all-caps word is where they come apart. Our own plan for it is bold fonts, because that is where this kind of font does the least arguing with you. Before downloading, give the preview a full-size look and read the licence tab — two clicks, and they answer most of what the listing leaves unsaid.

The words on the listing are brochure fonts, brush fonts, calligraphy fonts and cursive fonts, and they are worth reading as a description rather than as tags. You will find it among the script and calligraphy fonts, sorted next to everything that does roughly the same job. People after this usually search script, handwritten, hand written and signature too, and the shelf is sorted so those all land in the same place. The wording people arrive with is script fonts, cursive numbers, fancy cursive fonts and elegant vs script font, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
