About Sovel
What we like about Sovel is how little it tries to be everything — it does alternate characters, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Sans Serif Fonts shelf. It sits at 3 saves — too few to call it popular, which is exactly why it is worth a look before everyone else finds it. Unreviewed so far — read that as untested rather than as a verdict. It comes from ColorsFav.
We would use it the way the listing hints — apothecary label — and that is also where we would start if you are trying it for the first time. We check the numerals and the ampersand first, because a sans serif with a weak set of figures will bite you on every price list and date. Open it big before you commit. At thumbnail size every font on this shelf looks equally good, which is the problem with thumbnails.

How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
