About Mondo
This is the one we reach for when the request is 70s font. Mondo keeps it simple, which is why it sits here rather than in the reserve pile. The designer behind it is Almairatype Studio. The save count is at zero, so there is nothing to lean on but the preview and our reading of it. No reviews either way, so the preview is doing all the work on this one.
The numerals tell you more than the letters do. A sans with weak figures will undercut every price list, date and phone number you set in it. The obvious job for it is 80s font, and obvious is right here — the file was built around that and it shows. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
