About Modern Spooky
The reason Modern Spooky is here is 7ntypes and nothing else. It does not try to cover the next three jobs along, and we would rather it did not. Credit goes to Eightde. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence. Only 17 people have saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's.
Put it to work on advertising fonts first. If it survives that, it will survive whatever you had in mind next. We look at the lowercase l, the capital I and the figure 1 side by side; if two of them are the same shape, the face will cause trouble. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether 7ntypes is really what you are getting.
Filed as back to school font, banner fonts, bloggers fonts and branding fonts. Tags are a rough instrument, but a consistent set like that usually means the file is what it claims. People after this usually search sans too, and the shelf is sorted so those all land in the same place. We filed it under Sans Serif Fonts for the obvious reason, and the shelf is small enough to read end to end. The wording people arrive with is sans serif fonts and fonts sans serif, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid.

How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
