About Gridstar
Gridstar earned its place here for one reason: it is a straight answer to calligraphy, and straight answers are rarer in this font catalogue than you would think. No reviews either way, so the preview is doing all the work on this one. The save count is still small at 24, so read this as our opinion and not a consensus. The designer behind it is BrandSemut.
Our own plan for it is display branding, because that is where this kind of font does the least arguing with you. We check the numerals and the ampersand first, because a sans serif with a weak set of figures will bite you on every price list and date. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether calligraphy is really what you are getting.

How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
