About Avernique
Avernique is our bold display font pick, and it is a pick rather than a default — we looked at the shelf twice before leaving it on. Colourful made it. Unreviewed so far — read that as untested rather than as a verdict. The save count is still small at 3, so read this as our opinion and not a consensus.
The obvious job for it is bold logo font, and obvious is right here — the file was built around that and it shows. We look at the lowercase l, the capital I and the figure 1 side by side; if two of them are the same shape, the face will cause trouble. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether bold display font is really what you are getting.
It answers to branding font, fashion branding, groovy font and logo design font, and that spread of wording is worth noting: a file tagged this consistently usually behaves the way the preview suggests. Most of the traffic on this shelf comes in on sans serif fonts and fonts sans serif, and we picked the files on it with those requests in mind rather than by browsing prettiest-first. We keep it under Sans Serif Fonts, which is where to look if you want the rest of the sans serif fonts we have gone through. If none of this quite fits, the adjacent requests are sans and they stay on this page.

How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
