About Ancola
Ancola earned its place here for one reason: it is a straight answer to abc, and straight answers are rarer in this font catalogue than you would think. It sits at 12 saves — too few to call it popular, which is exactly why it is worth a look before everyone else finds it. No reviews either way, so the preview is doing all the work on this one. The designer behind it is Artiveko.
The obvious job for it is abstract, and obvious is right here — the file was built around that and it shows. We look at the lowercase l, the capital I and the figure 1 side by side; if two of them are the same shape, the face will cause trouble. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether abc is really what you are getting.
If you came in looking for alphabet, art, background and bold, you are in the right place — the listing carries all of those, which is the clearest sign the designer built it for that job rather than retitled it afterwards. The same shelf also answers to sans, so widen the search there before giving up on it. We filed it under Sans Serif Fonts for the obvious reason, and the shelf is small enough to read end to end. Put next to the usual requests here — sans serif fonts and fonts sans serif — this one covers the plain version of the job, which is the version people need most often.

How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
