About Wild Ink

Ask for brush font and you get a hundred near-misses; Wild Ink is one of the few that answers the question as asked. It is Creatype Designer's work. The review tab is empty. That is normal here and not a warning, but it does put the preview in charge. The save count is at zero, so there is nothing to lean on but the preview and our reading of it.

The obvious job for it is calligraphy font, and obvious is right here — the file was built around that and it shows. A display font only has to work big, so we judge it at poster size and ignore how it looks in a paragraph — that is not its job. Spend the minute on the preview at full size — it is where you find out whether brush font was the description or the aspiration.

It answers to classy font, cursive font, display font and edgy font, and that spread of wording is worth noting: a file tagged this consistently usually behaves the way the preview suggests. You will find it among the display and poster fonts, sorted next to everything that does roughly the same job. Most of the traffic on this shelf comes in on vintage fonts commercial license, display fonts, vintage fonts canva, number fonts vintage and retro canva fonts, and we picked the files on it with those requests in mind rather than by browsing prettiest-first. Related wording on the shelf: poster, headline, vintage, retro and slab. Same shelf, different phrasing, and the sort options above work across all of it.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
