About Wicked Mayhem

What we like about Wicked Mayhem is how little it tries to be everything — it does bold display font, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Display and Poster Fonts shelf. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence. It comes from jinanstd. 5 saves mean nobody has tested it for you. We still think it holds up.

A display face has one job: be read big. We judge it at poster size and ignore how it behaves in a paragraph, because it will never be in one. We would use it the way the listing hints — bold font — and that is also where we would start if you are trying it for the first time. Before downloading, give the preview a full-size look and read the licence tab — two clicks, and they answer most of what the listing leaves unsaid.

It answers to chunky font, craft font, creepy font and cricut font, and that spread of wording is worth noting: a file tagged this consistently usually behaves the way the preview suggests. On this site it lives on the Display and Poster Fonts shelf, so it also turns up for people browsing display and poster fonts rather than searching for it by name. The same shelf also answers to poster, headline, vintage, retro and slab, so widen the search there before giving up on it. Put next to the usual requests here — vintage fonts commercial license, display fonts, vintage fonts canva, number fonts vintage and retro canva fonts — this one covers the plain version of the job, which is the version people need most often.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
