About Swipe

Swipe earned its place here for one reason: it is a straight answer to 60s font, and straight answers are rarer in this font catalogue than you would think. It stands at 5.0 out of 5 across 3 reviews, and we read the low scores first when there are any. 616 saves is a quiet kind of recommendation, and it is the only one we can read off the listing. Dharmas Studio is the name on the listing.

Check the capitals and the spacing between them — display type lives or dies on how a short word in caps sits together. We keep it filed mentally under 70s font, which is the use that needs the least adjusting afterwards. We would not hesitate on this one, beyond the two minutes it costs to read the licence tab.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
