About Retro Usa
What we like about Retro Usa is how little it tries to be everything — it does 4th july, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Display and Poster Fonts shelf. It is airotype's work. We are not the first to notice: 168 makers saved it on before we did, and that number is the closest thing to a verdict the platform gives. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence.
We would use it the way the listing hints — america — and that is also where we would start if you are trying it for the first time. Check the capitals and the spacing between them — display type lives or dies on how a short word in caps sits together. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether 4th july is really what you are getting.

How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
