About Grinchie 2.0

What we like about Grinchie 2.0 is how little it tries to be everything — it does adorable, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Display and Poster Fonts shelf. It is MVMET's work. With 44 saves it has barely been seen, and that is neither a good nor a bad sign on a catalogue this size. The review tab is empty. That is normal here and not a warning, but it does put the preview in charge.

Check the capitals and the spacing between them — display type lives or dies on how a short word in caps sits together. We would use it the way the listing hints — bakery fonts — and that is also where we would start if you are trying it for the first time. We check two things before any download like this: the preview at full size, and whether the licence covers what you plan to do with it.

Type birthday, blog fonts, cartoon and childish into the search above and this one comes back — the same font under four different habits of phrasing. We filed it under Display and Poster Fonts for the obvious reason, and the shelf is small enough to read end to end. The same shelf also answers to display, poster, headline, vintage and retro, so widen the search there before giving up on it. Put next to the usual requests here — vintage fonts commercial license, display fonts, vintage fonts canva, number fonts vintage and retro canva fonts — this one covers the plain version of the job, which is the version people need most often.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
