About First Point

Ask for apparel and you get a hundred near-misses; First Point is one of the few that answers the question as asked. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence. 1 save means nobody has tested it for you. We still think it holds up. The designer behind it is weknow.

Our own plan for it is bold font, because that is where this kind of font does the least arguing with you. A display face has one job: be read big. We judge it at poster size and ignore how it behaves in a paragraph, because it will never be in one. Before downloading, give the preview a full-size look and read the licence tab — two clicks, and they answer most of what the listing leaves unsaid.

It answers to book, books, cartoon and cartoon font, and that spread of wording is worth noting: a file tagged this consistently usually behaves the way the preview suggests. It is shelved with the rest of the display and poster fonts, and that is the quickest way to see what else sits in the same register before you settle on this one. The wording people arrive with is vintage fonts commercial license, display fonts, vintage fonts canva, number fonts vintage and retro canva fonts, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid. The neighbouring searches are display, poster, headline, vintage and retro — worth a look if this particular font is close but not quite it.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
