About Chicago Grunge

What we like about Chicago Grunge is how little it tries to be everything — it does american sports, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Display and Poster Fonts shelf. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence. Only 1 person has saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's. Infinity art Studio is the name on the listing.

The obvious job for it is athletic font, and obvious is right here — the file was built around that and it shows. A display font only has to work big, so we judge it at poster size and ignore how it looks in a paragraph — that is not its job. Before downloading, give the preview a full-size look and read the licence tab — two clicks, and they answer most of what the listing leaves unsaid.

Type athletic lettering, athletic logo, block font and bold font into the search above and this one comes back — the same font under four different habits of phrasing. It is shelved with the rest of the display and poster fonts, and that is the quickest way to see what else sits in the same register before you settle on this one. What this shelf gets asked for is vintage fonts commercial license, display fonts, vintage fonts canva, number fonts vintage and retro canva fonts. That list is why these files are here and not some prettier ones. The neighbouring searches are display, poster, headline, vintage and retro — worth a look if this particular font is close but not quite it.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
