About Carved Wood
Carved Wood stayed on the shelf for the dull reason that it works. We would rather have one of these than three fonts with ideas of their own. OLIVERFONTS made it. 2,453 people have saved it over there, which tells us the idea works for more than just us. It stands at 4.9 out of 5 across 46 reviews, and we read the low scores first when there are any.
We would reach for it when the deadline matters more than the flourish. A display face has one job: be read big. We judge it at poster size and ignore how it behaves in a paragraph, because it will never be in one. A rating like that takes most of the guesswork out. The preview at full size takes out the rest.
The wording people arrive with is vintage fonts commercial license, display fonts, vintage fonts canva, number fonts vintage and retro canva fonts, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid. The same shelf also answers to headline, vintage, retro and slab, so widen the search there before giving up on it. It is shelved with the rest of the display and poster fonts, and that is the quickest way to see what else sits in the same register before you settle on this one.

How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
