About Boldy Funk
What we like about Boldy Funk is how little it tries to be everything — it does birthday, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Display and Poster Fonts shelf. The designer behind it is NH Studio. There are no reviews on it yet, so judge it by the preview and not by a score that does not exist. Only 4 people have saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's.
A display face has one job: be read big. We judge it at poster size and ignore how it behaves in a paragraph, because it will never be in one. Our own plan for it is cute font, because that is where this kind of font does the least arguing with you. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether birthday is really what you are getting.

How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
