About Tombstones
Most of what turns up under ancient needs work before it is usable. Tombstones is the version that does not. It comes from Heartcraft Atelier. No reviews either way, so the preview is doing all the work on this one. It sits at 24 saves — too few to call it popular, which is exactly why it is worth a look before everyone else finds it.
Check which characters really exist: decorative sets often stop at the capitals, and you find out when you need an ampersand. Our own plan for it is architecture, because that is where this kind of font does the least arguing with you. The licence tab and the full-size preview are the whole of our due diligence here, and they take about a minute between them.
It answers to art, bold, branding and burial, and that spread of wording is worth noting: a file tagged this consistently usually behaves the way the preview suggests. The wording people arrive with is blackletter font pairing, cinzel decorative font pairing, decorative script fonts, modern blackletter fonts and monogram fonts for cricut, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid. We filed it under Decorative and Dingbat Fonts for the obvious reason, and the shelf is small enough to read end to end. How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
