About Taroth Sharp

Most of what turns up under blackletter needs work before it is usable. Taroth Sharp is the version that does not. The listing shows 5.0 out of 5 on 2 reviews, which is better evidence than the thumbnail. The save count is still small at 57, so read this as our opinion and not a consensus. The designer behind it is Alit Design.

Check which characters really exist: decorative sets often stop at the capitals, and you find out when you need an ampersand. We would use it the way the listing hints — dark typography — and that is also where we would start if you are trying it for the first time. Before downloading, give the preview a full-size look and read the licence tab — two clicks, and they answer most of what the listing leaves unsaid.

Type decorative, display font, gothic font and medieval into the search above and this one comes back — the same font under four different habits of phrasing. What this shelf gets asked for is blackletter font pairing, cinzel decorative font pairing, decorative script fonts, modern blackletter fonts and monogram fonts for cricut. That list is why these files are here and not some prettier ones. You will find it among the decorative and dingbat fonts, sorted next to everything that does roughly the same job. The neighbouring searches are dingbat, colorful, colour, ornament and monogram — worth a look if this particular font is close but not quite it.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
