About South Coven

The reason South Coven is here is blackletter and nothing else. It does not try to cover the next three jobs along, and we would rather it did not. 3 saves mean nobody has tested it for you. We still think it holds up. baletype made it. The listing shows 5.0 out of 5 on 1 review, which is better evidence than the thumbnail.

A decorative face carries one word, maybe two. If you are tempted to set a whole headline in it, set it in the preview first and see what happens. The obvious job for it is bold fonts, and obvious is right here — the file was built around that and it shows. The licence tab and the full-size preview are the whole of our due diligence here, and they take about a minute between them.

Search for cool fonts, creepy, display fonts and dracula and this is the file those words land on; they are all the same font, filed under whichever phrase you happened to type. We keep it under Decorative and Dingbat Fonts, which is where to look if you want the rest of the decorative and dingbat fonts we have gone through. Related wording on the shelf: decorative, dingbat, colorful, colour and ornament. Same shelf, different phrasing, and the sort options above work across all of it. The wording people arrive with is blackletter font pairing, cinzel decorative font pairing, decorative script fonts, modern blackletter fonts and monogram fonts for cricut, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
