About Orvian

Orvian is our apparel typography pick, and it is a pick rather than a default — we looked at the shelf twice before leaving it on. Buyers put it at 5.0 out of 5 over 1 review; worth clicking through to see what they actually said. It comes from Bluebird. It sits at 12 saves — too few to call it popular, which is exactly why it is worth a look before everyone else finds it.

A decorative face carries one word, maybe two. Set the headline you actually want in the preview before deciding it carries more. We keep it filed mentally under bold graphic t-shirt, which is the use that needs the least adjusting afterwards. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether apparel typography is really what you are getting.

Type brutalist typeface, clothing brand font, clothing label design and edgy display font into the search above and this one comes back — the same font under four different habits of phrasing. We track what people actually type before they land here: blackletter font pairing, cinzel decorative font pairing, decorative script fonts, modern blackletter fonts and monogram fonts for cricut. If that is roughly what you were after, this font is in the right family. People after this usually search decorative, dingbat, blackletter, colorful and colour too, and the shelf is sorted so those all land in the same place. We filed it under Decorative and Dingbat Fonts for the obvious reason, and the shelf is small enough to read end to end.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
