About New Year
What we like about New Year is how little it tries to be everything — it does affinity designer font, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Decorative and Dingbat Fonts shelf. Unreviewed so far — read that as untested rather than as a verdict. The save count is still small at 16, so read this as our opinion and not a consensus. The designer behind it is Sirinart.
A decorative face carries one word, maybe two. If you are tempted to set a whole headline in it, set it in the preview first and see what happens. We keep it filed mentally under affinity font, which is the use that needs the least adjusting afterwards. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether affinity designer font is really what you are getting.

How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
