About New Hawskin
What we like about New Hawskin is how little it tries to be everything — it does blackletter calligraphy, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Decorative and Dingbat Fonts shelf. 5.0 out of 5 from 2 reviews — a small sample, but it is the sample there is. It has 150 saves behind it — enough that we trust the demand, not just our own taste. The designer behind it is Letter Stock.
If you want one use for it, take blackletter lettering: that is the direction the designer clearly had in mind, and it is the one we would follow. A decorative face carries one word, maybe two. If you are tempted to set a whole headline in it, set it in the preview first and see what happens. The licence tab and the full-size preview are the whole of our due diligence here, and they take about a minute between them.

How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
