About Klaus

What we like about Klaus is how little it tries to be everything — it does adobe illustrator, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Decorative and Dingbat Fonts shelf. 5.0 out of 5 from 1 review — a small sample, but it is the sample there is. The designer behind it is Angel_Srapix. 1 save means nobody has tested it for you. We still think it holds up.

Put it to work on craft font first. If it survives that, it will survive whatever you had in mind next. Check which characters really exist: decorative sets often stop at the capitals, and you find out when you need an ampersand. We check two things before any download like this: the preview at full size, and whether the licence covers what you plan to do with it.

It answers to cutting machine font, digital crafting, font for canva and font for cricut, and that spread of wording is worth noting: a file tagged this consistently usually behaves the way the preview suggests. Related wording on the shelf: decorative, dingbat, blackletter, colorful and colour. Same shelf, different phrasing, and the sort options above work across all of it. Put next to the usual requests here — blackletter font pairing, cinzel decorative font pairing, decorative script fonts, modern blackletter fonts and monogram fonts for cricut — this one covers the plain version of the job, which is the version people need most often. We filed it under Decorative and Dingbat Fonts for the obvious reason, and the shelf is small enough to read end to end.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
