About Jayda

Most of what turns up under book cover typography needs work before it is usable. Jayda is the version that does not. Only 1 person has saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's. The listing shows 5.0 out of 5 on 1 review, which is better evidence than the thumbnail. Angel_Srapix is the name on the listing.

We keep it filed mentally under book spine font, which is the use that needs the least adjusting afterwards. A decorative face carries one word, maybe two. Set the headline you actually want in the preview before deciding it carries more. Before downloading, give the preview a full-size look and read the licence tab — two clicks, and they answer most of what the listing leaves unsaid.

Search for cover art, dust jacket design, editorial headline and independent design and this is the file those words land on; they are all the same font, filed under whichever phrase you happened to type. We track what people actually type before they land here: blackletter font pairing, cinzel decorative font pairing, decorative script fonts, modern blackletter fonts and monogram fonts for cricut. If that is roughly what you were after, this font is in the right family. You will find it among the decorative and dingbat fonts, sorted next to everything that does roughly the same job. People after this usually search decorative, dingbat, blackletter, colorful and colour too, and the shelf is sorted so those all land in the same place.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
