About Ivy

This is the one we reach for when the request is abstract branding. Ivy keeps it simple, which is why it sits here rather than in the reserve pile. Buyers put it at 5.0 out of 5 over 1 review; worth clicking through to see what they actually said. It is Creativeguru's work. 2 saves mean nobody has tested it for you. We still think it holds up.

A decorative face carries one word, maybe two. If you are tempted to set a whole headline in it, set it in the preview first and see what happens. We keep it filed mentally under anchor rope typeface, which is the use that needs the least adjusting afterwards. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether abstract branding is really what you are getting.

Type art book layout, art poster, avant-garde design and coastal display font into the search above and this one comes back — the same font under four different habits of phrasing. Most of the traffic on this shelf comes in on blackletter font pairing, cinzel decorative font pairing, decorative script fonts, modern blackletter fonts and monogram fonts for cricut, and we picked the files on it with those requests in mind rather than by browsing prettiest-first. If none of this quite fits, the adjacent requests are decorative, dingbat, blackletter, colorful and colour and they stay on this page. We keep it under Decorative and Dingbat Fonts, which is where to look if you want the rest of the decorative and dingbat fonts we have gone through.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
