About Insect
What we like about Insect is how little it tries to be everything — it does affinity designer font, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Decorative and Dingbat Fonts shelf. It sits at 25 saves — too few to call it popular, which is exactly why it is worth a look before everyone else finds it. It stands at 5.0 out of 5 across 1 review, and we read the low scores first when there are any. The designer behind it is Nongyao.
Our own plan for it is affinity font, because that is where this kind of font does the least arguing with you. A decorative face carries one word, maybe two. If you are tempted to set a whole headline in it, set it in the preview first and see what happens. Before downloading, give the preview a full-size look and read the licence tab — two clicks, and they answer most of what the listing leaves unsaid.

How to use this font
- Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
- Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
- Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
- Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
